Montefioralle

The beautifully quaint medieval village known as Montefioralle sits high upon a hill above the larger and more well know town of Greve in Chianti. Founded around 900 AD, the village has less than 90 inhabitants and is said to have been the birthplace of the famous Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci. Due to it's location, halfway between the much larger cities of Florence and Siena, it was once one of the greatest military and administrative centres in the area.
